The New Novel-Day 8
A decent day for what little time I had. Here's the count:

Howdy Mark,
Keep up the progress on your novel. I'll be listening to PoH and following along here as I work on one of my own. I haven't kept up quite the pace I wanted, but I'll have about 19k by the end of January. So, keep on writing!
I like the word count ticker you got going. I can identify. I'm trying to do a zombie novel, and last I checked I was 53,000/80,000. Part of me says, "home stretch" but then again, ever since college break ended, I haven't touched it in a week.
In the fantasy genre, it is 100k. That is what I am working on now. My first book was a horror novel that is only 50k and I want to expand it. Finding 30k more words is a lot more doable than 50k.
Rich: That's great progress. If you can, sit down and write a sentence everyday. Then, when you finish that one, write another one, and so on. Good luck with it.
Bryan: Leisure lists 80-100k in their guidelines. For my purposes, 80 is just a target. It may go well past that. Or maybe not
I know I used Leisure as target number. Right now, the Horror small press isn't open to newcomers, manuscript or queries. I've looked around, every where. So, that leaves the big mass-market guys, namely pinacle and leisure. Pinnacle doesn't even list a minimum. And lets face it, snooty "literary" presses aren't too keen on zombie stuff (Even though, I promise, my novel is absolutely a radical departure than every other zombie book out there -- I can't speak for yours, mark, because I haven't read it. But from what I read, it's different than Dead Earth too.). So, my aim was to hit 80,000 and send proposals both Pinnacle and Leisure at the same time.
I just get worried that I'm stretching out some stuff a little too far.
